The Challenge for
AgriMech International
AgriMech had sold equipment into Tanzania through a local distributor, but after-sales support was almost non-existent. Customers complained about long downtimes, lack of spare parts, and no local technical support. This was damaging the brand and limiting repeat sales. The distributor had no service infrastructure.
What We Did:
Understand
Assessed the existing after-sales gaps: no spare parts inventory, no trained technicians, and no service scheduling system.
Validate
Interviewed 15 existing customers to quantify downtime impact and identify priority service needs.
Connect
Identified and vetted two local technical service providers with agricultural machinery experience.
Execute
Set up a service network with spare parts consignment stock, a technician training programme, and a service request tracking system integrated with Factory 23 for visibility.
The Data

Customer interviews: 15 customers reported an average downtime of 12 days per breakdown. Service network: 2 service providers contracted and 4 technicians trained, with an initial consignment stock of 45 critical parts. Average downtime fell to 6.5 days within 6 months (a 45% reduction). Repeat sales: 3 customers who had delayed purchases over service concerns placed new orders within 8 months.
The Outcome:
AgriMech now has a functioning after-sales service network in Tanzania. Customer complaints dropped significantly. The distributor is now selling with confidence, knowing that service support exists. Repeat sales are increasing.
